Breyer Construction & Landscape’s own Matt Breyer contributed an article in the April edition of “At Home in Berks” titled: “Making Sure Your Deck is Safe This Summer.”
As everyone is starting to enjoy the warmer weather, Matt urges deck owners to perform a yearly deck inspection to ensure it is safe for them and their families. With over 15 years of experience, Breyer has seen decks only a few years old fail and others that are decades old, barely holding on to the house. The greatest areas for potential failure include:
- Connection of deck to house wall
- Connection of deck to railings
- Connection of deck to stairs
If at any point, home owners have safety concerns over their deck, they should contact a qualified deck inspector or deck professional.
